Mrs. Debby W. Williams has taught at Kingston Elementary School for the past
37 years. During this time she has taught in kindergarten, first and second
grade classes. Prior to teaching for the Roane County Schools, she was a
summer day care director. Working as a graduate assistant at Tennessee
Technological University, she taught practicum classes for the elementary
education department. Her students went into preschool or kindergarten
classrooms where they assisted teachers and presented lesson units to the
classes. She holds two degrees, B. S. and M. A, in the field of Early
Childhood Education.

Mrs. Williams is from the local area. She has been active in may professional
activities and organizations during her teaching career. She has been involved in
local offices and statewide committees for such groups as the Roane Reading
Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Society for Women Educators.
She has served on Tennessee Department of Education committees for
writing of two Science Frameworks, the Basic and Applied Sciences
Sub-Cluster Standards for Education Edge, Science and Technology Career,
and a Social Studies Framework Standards. She has served as a member of an
Ad-hoc committee that wrote licensuring standards for
elementary and middle grade teachers for the Tennessee State Board of
Education. She served on a committee that produced a CD Sampler, providing
classroom teachers sample units of study correlated to the current science
framework for the Tennessee State Department of Education.
Mission For The Class
Mrs. Williams' kindergarten students are always busy: activity centers, class
projects, and individual work task are examples of the student exploration
that creates an active learning environment. She attempts to use computers
that assist in this interactive environment. It is her goal to make each day
a learning day!
